How do I get paid?
After you file your first claim, claims can then be made every two weeks by calling the automated benefits calling system (also called the VRU). A check will be mailed to you for each two-week period that you claim benefits and meet the requirements. Keep in mind, if you do not report on time, your unemployment check will not be mailed on time (and may not get mailed at all).
When will I receive my first check?
You will be told to call the VRU system 14 days after you file your first claim for benefits. If you meet all the requirements and your call to the VRU system is successful, a check is normally mailed to you the next day from Frankfort. If you don’t report within 14 days after the scheduled date, benefits for those weeks may be denied.
How do I report by phone?
After filing your claim, you will report by telephone every two weeks to answer questions and make sure you still qualify. Making these reports on time is important because you will only get your check after they hear from you. The telephone reporting system is called the Automated Benefits System or Voice Response Unit (VRU).
By using a touch-tone telephone, you can claim your benefits or find out if you will be receiving benefits for your last claim. You can call Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
To find out about your last claim, call Tuesday through Friday from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Be sure you have the following information on you:
· Your social security number
· Your personal identification number (PIN). This is a number that you choose the first time you call. You will need this number each time you call.
· If you have returned to work, you will be asked to enter the exact date you returned to work.
· The number of hours you worked during each week claimed.
· Your earnings, before deductions, for each week claimed.
